Session 4 - August 14th 5 Elements Webinar - Aug 17, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm MDT
Janel introduces the Five Wisdom Buddhas, who offer support, inspiration and antidotes to the five poisons, then some background on Tibetan Bon, Shamanism, and the perspective of the Four Guests. Doshin describes the connections of the poisons to the Unconscious, Collective Unconscious, shadow. David introduces a precious traditional teaching sequence of all of the sacred sounds with movement.
August 10th, Five Elements Webinar - Aug 10, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm MDT
Janel continues framework of Chinese Wuxing Five Phases Theory, including Sheng, Creation and Ko, Control cycles, followed with an exploration of the organ systems, characteristics, symptoms and supports. Doshin Roshi speaks more about Shadow, Carl Jung and a relationship between the four elements and Jung's four functions. Shifu David continues to introduce sacred sound healing, teachings that were transmitted to him in the past during his own health recovery.
August 3rd, Five Elements Webinar - Aug 3, 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm MDT
Janel reviews the Tibetan elements, introduces Ancient Greek framework and it's connection to the history of Western Medicine, and the influence on Shakespeare. After we go back to China and review the introduction of Chinese Healing, the Nei Jing, and five Chinese element characteristics and typolgies. Doshin talks about Jung's working with the four elements connected to his four functions. Then Doshin talks about the Confucian concept of Jie and Wai and it's place in Rinzai Zen and Integral Semiotics. Shifu David continues introducing movement corresponding to the organ sound healing.
Also included for review for next week, is a pdf of the basic Buddhist framework around human embodiment and consciousness; much of this was reviewed in our death course The Setting Sun.
