The Denver Boulder Community establishes its roots as Doshin Roshi’s “laboratory” for creating an integral sangha since the early 2000’s. It has been and continues to be a dynamic and evolving practice container which includes traditional forms of Rinzai Zen, Mondo Zen, and exploration of our deep emotional and interpersonal messiness-all as vehicles to greater liberation. We value our Buddhist lineage, silence, realness, and a willingness to be uncomfortable as we leave no stone unturned.
The Denver-Boulder community has weekly offerings as well as retreat opportunities.
Our core sangha meeting is on Sundays from 7:30 am- 11:30am. We begin with traditional zazen until 9:00 am and usually follow with a potluck breakfast. This is followed by Zen Circle, our community’s integral core practice and toolbox for liberating shadows, traumas and attachment wounds. Mondo Zen is a prerequisite for regular attendance in our the Zen Circle. There is a suggested donation of $15-35 for this program.
There is Tuesday and Thursday morning zazen at the Boulder zendo from 7:15-8:45 am. This includes short instructions with a focus on posture and breath, all are welcome to attend. There is a suggested donation of $5-15.

Members of our Dharma community have the opportunity to meet regularly for Morning Service, meditation, qigong, discussion and, of course, share a meal. We also meet regularly by Zoom to discuss whatever is “up” for individuals.
Our emphasis is on cultivating meditative awareness, clear intention (not clouded by shadow), wisdom and compassion. Our tools include disciplined concentration meditation, the Mondo Koan Dialectic, shadow work, Integral understanding and the study of lineage teachings.
